Audiotext lotteries are games of chance, the rules of which are set out in Poland by the Act of 19 November 2009 on gambling and its implementing regulations. Alongside promotional and raffle lotteries, audiotex campaigns are extremely popular in our country.

The aims of the audiotext lottery

From the participant’s perspective, the aim of taking part in an audiotext lottery is to win a prize in kind or a cash prize. From the organiser’s perspective, however, the aim is to boost sales of the promoted products and services – in cases where the lottery is organised to stimulate demand for consumer goods – or to generate direct profit from the volume of SMS messages or paid telephone calls.

Only individuals aged 18 or over may take part in audiotext lotteries. This is one of the key differences between these lotteries and promotional or raffle lotteries, in which participants need only be aged 13 or over.
